Santorini is one of the Greek Islands located in the Aegean Sea. This island was formed by the largest volcanic explosion in history. The island has a population of less than 14,000 people and has only one community and one Municipality. Santorini is devoid of any rivers and has very little water. There is a small wine industry, even though it is difficult for the growers because the weather is so dry and hot. Their fields do not yield near as many grapes as other areas of Greece. Santorini is a tourist attraction because of the ancient towns that have been well preserved.
Corfu is another island which is located on the Ionian Sea. It is more populated than Santorini, with over 39,000 people. This island is also home to the Ionian Academy, which was the first university in Greece. They also have the Ionian University. In Corfu, you will find many museums as well as libraries. You will also find architecture dating back many years, along with modern architecture. They also have great musical traditions that date back to 1733, when operas were first performed there.
Rhodes is on the Aegean Sea and is the largest of the Dodecanese islands. Most of the island is covered in forests. The natural beauty of Rhodes is known for attracting tourists. Besides the forests and mountains, there are beaches for tourists and natives alike to enjoy. Because of the tourism, Rhodes is rich in entertainment and offers everything from sporting events to the night life, and many cultural events in between.
