Alexander the Great

Alexander was born in July, 356 B.C. He was known as the Greek king of Macedonia, a military commander who had never lost a battle. When he was ten, he was the only one to be able to ride a certain horse called Bucephalus. His father and the owner of the horse made a bet that if he could ride him, he could have him. He succeeded and won the horse. He named a city after the horse that he rode during his battles. Some think that the horse was the only best friend Alexander ever had.

His first teacher was Leonidas, who taught him how to live a simple life. The second teacher he had was Lysimachus who taught him to play the lyre and like art. His final teacher was Aristotle who taught him science, medicine and philosophy.
When his father, Philip II, who was the king of Mesadonia was assassinated, Alexander took over as heir to the throne. To prove himself, he waged a war with the southern Greek cities. Some of his other battles were in Anatolic, Syria, Judea, Egypt, and Gaza territories. He was the one who conquered the Persian Empire.

After battling all these wars, he died at the young age of thirty-two in 323 B.C. Some believe he was poisoned, while others think he might have had malaria, or typhoid fever. After he died his son Alexander IV was born.
