Activities in Athens

Athens is an incredible city, with a multitude of things to do that will provide you with an amazing vacation. First, check into a hotel with a view of the Acropolis. Most Greek hotels include breakfast in their cost, and many serve breakfast on their roofs. Sitting outside in the early morning, sipping coffee with a view of the Acropolis, is a wonderful start to your day of sightseeing.

Stop at the Parliament Building and see the changing of the Evzone Guard, which happens every hour all day long. The guards, dressed in their embroidered jackets, are a stunning sight as they march to the Parliament. On Sundays, the guard is led by a band who march onto the grounds of the Parliament. This is the very best free show in town, and shouldn’t be missed.

The National Archeological Museum has a fantastic collection on display. You could spend a whole day wandering through the rooms of this great museum.

The site of an ancient marketplace, the Agora and its ruins are a very interesting place to see. Of course, the most famous ruins in Athens are the Parthenon, and should not be overlooked. They are known by the huge white marble columns, and depict a huge piece of Athens’s history.

Contact a tourist or travel agent and ask for their help in planning your trip so you will see all the best of Athens, and you will have a trip to remember for a lifetime.
